The Bookie family reside semi-permanently at their tourism base camp. In summer when temperatures in the desert can reach 55 degrees, the family move back to Alice Springs and prepare resources for the next tourist season [usually between April and September each year].
Family members have thorough traditional environmental, cultural and historical knowledge of this landscape and are well capable of sharing the significance of their country with visitors.
They provide insight into traditional methods of hunting, gathering and surviving on country through the living experience of Mr Lindsay Bookie and his family, and the knowledge passed on from generations before them.
